Site Issues, Holidays, France

First off, I have some bad news.

Although the www.ehdtstudios.tk url is awesome and easy to remember, I am going to have to remove it. Because dot.tk is free, it requires that I don't have a large amount of media on my page so that it can still provide free service. Users can still use http://ehdtstudios.blogspot.com this url will show all of the videos and photos, always.

Holidays...

Over the holidays (during the time I am away) I am being mailed a Sony shotgun mic for my camera. This is great because I usually film in noisy environments, and having this will help me produce great sound.

Not many camera goods on my wish list this year, but I was able to pick up a brand new tripod and some DVD-RWs last week. With this said, you can expect to see some smoother, more stable footage like that in "Winter" The DVDs? Well now I can do scene after scene without worrying about filling up a disc, that means more great movies headed your way.

France?

Yes, if you've been reading the previous posts, you know that my departure for France is near. I am spending 10 days all over the country, filming everything as I go. Usually you would expect to see 2 or 3 videos from EHDT Studios over the holiday break, however this year, I am afraid I won't have anything posted until mid January.

BONUS ROUND!

We are also looking for some viewer input? What would you like to see from EHDT Studios in January? We are looking for movies ideas that are new and creative. Ideas can be emailed to evanatorx@gmail.com Your ideas WILL be used in our next films, no matter what, and your name/site will be featured in the opening credits.

That's all for now.

Must get packing!

Mini-Mop: First Video over 20,000

It's been some time but Mini-Mop has finally passed the 20,000 views mark. The video also has over 60 comments, and was apparently featured on the KRINK website. Yes, you heard right... the people over at KRINK posted my video (without me knowing) on their galleries on both www.krink.com and their Myspace.

I am very flattered that I was recognized by such a large, famous brand.

I will be making another mop video shortly, that will...with luck achieve what Mini-Mop has.

All I can say is, keep viewing, rating, and commenting our videos. It sure feels nice to see the view count rack up. If you want to check out Mini-Mop, just click.

Stay tuned for another graffiti video.

Adieu...

Happy Holidays

Man it snowed alot!

Finally, the video about my camera.

After making 2 new videos with my new camera, I finally had time to edit together the footage. The music in this video is Black Mamba by The Academy Is (Remixed by Teddybears STHLM)

Enjoy.

New Video: Opus Vivace

In a spur of affection for my beautiful bike, I made this video from footage used in a school project.

Please enjoy Opus Vivace (name of the bike)

New Camera = New Video!

Here is the latest video simply entitled, November 12th.

Unfortunately, YouTbe somewhat degraded...well REALY degraded my quality, so things are a tad fuzzy.

I will get the issues dealing with compression worked out soon.

Enjoy, the video is just about my afternoon today with Peter, Warner, and Amelia. Thanks guys!

Sony HDR-UX5

So here are a few photos of the new camera. A video is in the works and should be up tomorrow.

Things I like about the new camera are...

-High Definition shooting at 1080p. The highest resolution know to man.
   -Expansion for shotgun mic.
-Threads for wide angle lens adaptor.
-Easy to transfer all EHDT videos from DVD to hard drive.
   -HDMI output

Things that could be improved...

-Such high resolution requires a great deal of space. DVDs are expensive.
-No external mic input, have to buy a 99 dollar Sony mic.
   - No lamp.
   - No external battery charger.

Excluding the MINOR cons of this camera, I love it. The wonderful (sometimes) people at Futureshop were able to throw in a Lowepro Edit 120+ case. 20 DVD-R, and a killer 4 year all inclusive warranty. The total cost (excluding tax) was 700 dollars. That's a deal when you consider the warranty, which is very important these days.

Work flow is very easy. To record video, all I do is insert a DVD and format to either HD or SD resolution. Once I have recorded video, I can just pop the DVD into my drive on my laptop and copy each individual clip to my HD. So easy.

The video from this camera is far better than anything I have ever seen. Crystal clear images, amazing focus, vivid colour. I can even hook this camera in to my HDTV and view the videos I make in full 1080p!

Just wait till Moe gets to see this, he's going to flip!

HIGH DEFINITION!

So I lied.

I spent a LITTLE bit extra than what I wanted too. But I am very happy. The Canon ZR850 was the camera I was gunnin' for. It was $399.99. Tonight....

I bought the Sony HDR-UX5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was $700.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will have a full update later on, along with a video and pictures...

Must go install drivers!

New Camera!

Tomorrow night I am going out to buy a new mini-dv camera. I am buying this because I am frustrated with filming with my tiny point and shoot camera. The video quality on mini-dv is far better than the mpeg that the camera shoots with.
I am not looking to break the bank, just an entry level camcorder. I am seriously considering a Canon ZR850 (below)

There are a myriad of other options but this looks like it may be the one.

Expect to see a TONNE more videos now from EHDT now that we will have a better camera!

I will post a video about the new camera, so you can visualize the awesomeness!

Going International

The holiday break is fast approaching. We know you will be spending countless hours at your computer, trying to cure your boredom as you sip back holiday tea. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide you with any productions due to travel.

All members of the EHDT Film Crew will be traveling this holiday break to Greece, Egypt, Spain, England, France and the U.S.A. While we travel we will be filming all of the highlights and interesting sights.

All of the captured media will be compiled into a video highlighting the contrast between major cities.

Mohamed is actually preparing for Greece as we speak and will arrive tomorrow, hopefully with some updates.

This is going to be one of our best side projects ever. Make sure you check back often to see updates and travel journals from our crew.

Expect the final video to be published around the 18th of January at the most.

Enjoy the holidays.

-EHDT Crew

EHDT Laptop

As promissed, here is what editing is like at EHDT.
We use a fridge becuase the laptop runs at over 83 degrees celceus. Which is very bad.
Enjoy my pain...

New Template Underway

Things seem to be gaining speed here at EHDT.

Template

Haoxiang and I are designing the new layout for the site, it should be up soon. In the meantime, check out the preview.

In time the blog will gain features, and hopefully a new .com domain. In the mean time, I plan to keep everything simple yet with plenty of posts.

With regards to our next film.

My group in Media arts in currently editing a sub 10 minute documentary on Pierre Brennan and his road to recovery after a knee surgery. So far the video looks great. The music is fitting thanks to Haoxiang. Tom and I are really putting forth a lot of time into the editing, so far the montage and interview footage is serious, yet entertaining and full of intense sport action.

The film should be finished production within two weeks.

EHDT will be planning a few videos utilizing the blue screen with a few new guests. I have recently aqquired Sony Vegas 8.0. After setting everything up, I have concluded that it isn't much different than Vegas 7.0, for me anyways. It only makes my laptop run even HOTTER! You will see how hot I mean in the next post.

DVD

Many EHDT fans have requested a dvd with our work on it. Judging on the ammount of requests, a DVD may be produced in small quantities. The DVD will include our best work, films such as D.A.R.E. "Cereal" Killer, EHDT 06-07, and school project series videos will be included. There may be a small charge on the DVD depending again on the amount of requests.

T-Shirts

For the longest time, Mohamed and I have wanted to make EHDT branded shirts. Since EHDT was a baby in grade nine, we have dreamt of a cool, grey tee with the EHDT primate logo (seen below) We are going to look into this. It's not like you care what we wear. It's news ok?

That gives you an update on EHDT lately, enjoy your week.

About

About The Blog
For the longest time, www.ehdtstudios.com was centered around our YouTube page and the videos we made for it. Since recently, video production has slowed down. This can be blamed on a number of innocent things but most notably; we simply haven't the time anymore to be making movies.  University students are busy people -- and not only are we busy people -- we have different priorities.
Lately I've found that my various hobbies and interests have had me wanting to write on this blog at a time where it wouldn't be particularly suitable.
Therefore, I have decided to change the direction of this blog to encompass my life in general. I have found myself wanting to showcase my talents and abilities through my websites; but never did I think that the old ehdtstudios.com was the appropriate medium to do so.
I guess you could say this new format is like an online resume or portfolio. In that sense, it will present myself outside of what a printed resume can do. Regardless though, I won't always be showing this to employers.
Some people ask me if EHDT is dead. Others ask me if they can know what it stands for. The answer to both of these questions is NO. EHDT Studios is about more than just movies. I intended it to be that way when I though of it. It represents a whole lot more than a YouTube page and a few rambunctious teenagers. Which always brings people to wonder what the notorious EHDT acronym stands for. I'm not saying.

UPDATE (as of 02/09/2011)
The evolution of EHDT Studios has gone flawlessly and the frequency of posts has gone up with great response. I have had some fantastic contributions, advice, and criticism from my peers that has helped me make this place more fun an interesting. I have hundreds of bottled-up ideas ready to go for the new year and I can't wait to get them posted. Obviously, school and work keep me extremely occupied and I rarely find the time to write here. I continue to think about the blog every day and constantly think of new ways to entertain my beloved readers.
As for the new content that I have been trying out. It has certainly been fun generating an online persona and ethos that I can use to represent myself as a student and one day, a professional.
Stay tuned for some exciting content in the coming months!
