Lookee What I Got!

Those are skis my friends! And twin tip skis at that!

Now if you're old (like my dad) then you probably have no idea what twin tip skis are. Well, I'd say about a decade ago people realized how retarded snowboarding actually is and decided to start skiing again. Those people continued to launch themselves off of snowy cliffs and grind on railing planted on the side of a hill but to a small problem. Their 1200 dollar racing skis really aren't meant for such abuse.
With that came twin tippers. Beefy, wide based skis that rise at both ends to allow easier jump tracking and most of all, switch skiing (going backwards.)

I failed at extreme sports. I could never work up the courage to actually execute a trick on a mountain bike or skateboard. Thus, I'm not expecting to go and huck like crazy on the first day. I'm a casual skier. I like cruising through the glades and meandering down the narrow twisty kind of ski runs. The reason I got twin tips was a) They are used, cheap, and my size, b) They were available, b) They are very durable c) They are versatile on the slopes from powder to hard pack. But by all means, if I get a helmet I might try a rail or two :)

This weekend the gang is heading out to chicopee to take some caribbean people snowboarding for the first time. In that case -- expect some hilarious photos!
